About 6 months ago, I was still employed but on LOA recovering from rotator cuff surgery from a year ago. Me being in my 60’s, I wasn’t really looking for a new employment, but I was just looking to see what was out there for an old bird like me – something not as strenuous at my current job.
I stumbled upon a live-in caregiving position with rotating weeks – live-in caregiving 2 days one week and 4 days the next, and I could still live at my current apartment. The pay was excellent and the location was perfect. Needless to say I was hired and have been working there for a few months now.
But as you may have seen in my last post, I was – to put it nicely, “asked to vacate” my current living abode within the next 20 days. Total mind blow which initially sent me spinning to say the least.
But after a few days of settling down, doing some soul searching, and looking around at other apartments, I had a conversation with my employer who informed me that my employment also included moving in and living there RENT FREE – WITH NO CUT IN PAY and ALL EXPENSES PAID. Plus this would still enable me to come and go and do whatever I wanted, on the days that I didn’t work.
So what started out as being devastating – turned in to being a blessing. NOW HOW’S THAT FOR FATE ?!?!
